Mise vs KASO
These are not the same kind of product. KASO is a buying network — you order through its contracted suppliers to get pooled prices, and it offers a credit line. Mise is a procurement system for the suppliers you already use: requests, approvals by role, purchase orders and delivery-note receiving. The question is not which is better but whether you want to change who you buy from or how your kitchen buys.
A buying group changes who you buy from. That is a different decision from changing how you order, and it is a much bigger one.
The suppliers a kitchen builds up are not a price list. They are people who learn what your section needs and what you will send back. That is not a thing you hand over to get a lower unit price.
And your ordering becomes only as good as their catalogue. KASO publishes 100+ contracted SKUs. That is plenty for commodity lines and not much if you are cooking anything particular.
Specification is the first thing to go.
A contracted SKU is a line on a screen. It is not the box you would have sent back. When you buy through somebody else's contract, the person deciding what is acceptable is not the person standing at the delivery door at six in the morning.
You lose the phone call too. A supplier who knows your section will find you something when he is short, or tell you straight when today is not the day for it. A catalogue shows you out of stock and that is the end of it.
For flour and cleaning chemicals none of this matters. For anything you actually cook with, it does.
KASO says 'one clean, error-free workflow across suppliers and branches'. That is a fair description of what they do, and it overlaps with Mise more than I would like it to.
Where it genuinely overlaps: ordering in one place, across branches, without a group chat and without a phone call nobody can find afterwards. If that is your whole problem, KASO solves it and you do not need me.
Where it does not: KASO is the buying side. Mise is the kitchen side — who is allowed to raise a request, who signs it off, which budget it comes out of, and whether what arrived matched the note. KASO also lends money. Mise does not and will not.
I am biased. I built Mise. But KASO has 2,000+ suppliers and 5,000+ restaurants and 5M+ orders behind it, and I am not going to pretend it is a worse version of my thing. It is a different thing.
Yes, and for a multi-site group I think it is the obvious answer.
Put the boring lines through KASO. Oil, flour, disposables, cleaning. Nobody in the kitchen has an opinion about any of it, there is nothing to approve, and pooled pricing on that volume is real money.
Keep the rest in Mise: the suppliers you built something with, anything where specification matters, and anything that needs a head chef to say yes before it goes out the door.
They are not competing for the same order.

Choose KASO if
- Your priority is a lower invoice, not a tighter process. KASO's whole pitch is pooled buying power, and Mise does nothing to change what you pay a supplier.
- You need credit terms on purchases. Mise does not lend, and does not extend payment terms.
- You are willing to move spend onto their contracted supply, and their SKU range covers what your section actually orders.
- You want one place to order and are not trying to control who inside the kitchen can raise or approve that order.
